The Lord is my …

During my morning devotional, I was reading in Exodus 17:15 – And Moses built an altar and named it, “The LORD Is My Banner.”  So I decided to stop and research what else the Lord was called in the Old Testament.  I found eleven different names mentioned in the scriptures. Most of them refer to our Lord as providing us with strength and protection.

The Lord is my …

  • Strength – Ex. 15:2
  • Banner – Ex. 17:15
  • Rock – 2 Sam. 22:2
  • Shepherd – Ps. 23:1
  • Light and Salvation – Ps. 27:1
  • Strength and my Shield – Ps 28:7
  • Refuge – Ps. 94:22
  • Helper – Ps 118:7, Hab. 13:6
  • Strength and my Song – Ps. 118:14, Isa. 12:2, Ex. 15:2
  • Portion – Ps. 119:57, Lam 3:24
  • God – Zech. 13:9

The other item that I noticed is that Moses had built an altar. When God does something for us, we are to build an altar and offer a sacrifice to Him. This theme was carried throughout the old testament of the Bible. Genesis 8:20 Noah built an altar, Genesis 12:7 Abram built an altar, Genesis 35:7 Jacob built an altar… etc.

So then are we to build an altar when God moves in our lives?  Yes… but after the finished work of Jesus, we are to offer ourselves, as a living sacrifice of worship to our God. We now can come directly to God through the finished work of Jesus and worship God in Spirit and in truth.  Living and walking at all times in the Spirit, in a constant attitude of prayer should now be our offer of acceptable sacrifice to God on the altar.  We offer Him our lives, our hearts and all that we are.  Jesus has paid the price to redeem us back to the Father.  Hallelujah – come let us offer ourselves on the altar today.  Consume me, oh my God.

God’s Love…

It always amazes me to realize the love God has for us.  Where ever we go, whatever we are doing, whatever the time of day or the place, His love is ever reaching out toward us.  We cannot escape His Love, there is no place to run!!

The fullness of the Father dwells in Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ lives in us, in our bodies. We bring Jesus with us as we go… When we go to the store, to the workplace, to the park, anywhere and everywhere we go.   This is the hope of glory, Jesus Christ lives in us. We get to bring the Love of God with us, to everyone we meet, at work, on the street and even to those at church.

A lot of people have an idea what God is and what His love might be.  But those who have tasted His love and seen it action in our own lives and to those we come in contact with know, His Love is our source, our life and our strength.  It is the Love of the Father that powers everything.  It is why the only begotten son of God came to earth and died for all of us… The proof of His love for us.  There is no greater love than this, that one lay down his life for a friend, and Jesus is our true friend.

It is why Peter fell to his knees on that tiny fishing boat when he realized that this Jesus who was teaching from his boat, was the Christ, the one sent from God the Father.  Peter suddenly knew who he was, a sinner and had experienced the Love of God who was standing right in front of him. He had just seen a miracle of fish filling his net where he knew there were no fish in the deep waters. He had met the Love of God head on. It changed him forever, he experienced what agape love was, face to face. Peter cried out “Lord”.  He had just met his Lord and his God, he had just found the Love of God.  Forever was Peter changed and the world would itself be changed by this revelation.

And… He is Alive… Jesus is alive, In us.  hallelujah. hallelujah. hallelujah.

Meditate on what this means while you listen to Kelley Mooney’s version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”.

Praise report – Copan Honduras

I received a text from Wendy and Victor about a praise report that happened Monday.

They traveled up to Copan expecting to feed and share Jesus with about 60 children, but found 100 waiting there for them. This was the text from Wendy and Victor

Good afternoon everyone! We want to share a praise report. Yesterday was the first day of FEEDING PROGRAM for children in Copan. The program is designed for children to know God and get closer to Jesus. Along with feeding them spiritually they will receive a delicious meal. We expected 60 children but we had a total count of 100 children. Praise God!

We had a blessed in

1. Prayer
2. Praise and worship
3. Bible teachings
4. Activities
5. A nutritious meal

We will be doing this in three different cities in Honduras.

Jesus said, “Let the children come to me”.

If you would like to partner with us to make this happen, please reach out to us. Together we can reach the children of Honduras, the future generations for Christ.

Praise God!

How hungry are you?

hunger-now PullOutBeatitude5

Hebrews 11:6 says “Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him.”

I notice that it’s during those times when I am very hungry for God that things happen… I have to have more of Him. I cry out, I have to have more of you God.  I am pursuing Him with all that I am, but I have to have more…. I have to have more, it’s become an urgency within me.  I drop to my knees and cry out, God…. I have to have more, nothing else satisfies, nothing. There is nothing of this world that can satisfy the burning within me… Nobody else can satisfy my hunger, nothing else, only God.  I have to have the more of Him at all costs.

It’s when I am desperate for more and my heart burns within me that God rewards me with His new gifts, greater understanding and His peace and Love.

I’ve learned that when I am hungry I also thirst for His righteousness. I want to be pure and concentrated for Him. It’s not OK to live like we did before we came to know Jesus… After I have tasted and seen that the Lord is good, nothing else can satisfy.  NOTHING.

So I ask you… how HUNGRY are you for the MORE of God???
